Signs of people
Ten road signs of Catonsville locals highlighing historic sites
At about 12 feet tall, highly visible to both drivers and pedestrians, ten playful road signs feature the silhouettes of Catonsville residents pointing to historical sites along Frederick Road and Winters Lane. The wayfinding signs portray local people, selected through an open public nominations process, who have a special story to tell about these places.
Signs of People is a public art project by Eva Salmerón and Ciro Márquez, promoted by the Baltimore County Arts Guild for the Catonsville Arts District. Fabrication: Kyle Miller. Supported by a major grant from the former Catonsville Historical Society, with additional support from the Citizens of Baltimore County and the Maryland State Arts Council.
